Natural Jeremejevite
Icarian
Jeremejevite is a rare aluminium borate, first described from Siberia and later found in small quantities in Namibia. Facetable material is scarce in any size, and stones above a few carats are counted in single figures among collectors.
Icarian is a near-colourless heart of 9.81 ct, cut with a modified brilliant crown and a step-cut pavilion, and documented in an independent laboratory report as natural jeremejevite.

A matter of scale
Jeremejevite is one of the rarest facetable minerals. Most cut examples remain below two carats, which places a documented 9.81 ct heart well outside the usual range for the species.
Why it is difficult
The material is typically found as slender prismatic crystals with limited clean volume. A heart brilliant demands symmetry across two lobes and a clean cleft, leaving very little margin during cutting.
Provenance
Acquired as a single loose stone with laboratory documentation; chain of custody is recorded from the cutting workshop to the Institute.
